Kevin and I had been discussing for over a year the practicality of living on a sailboat full time and every time our discussion ended with well... some day. The major concerns I had was familiarity with a boat and it's systems, learning navigation into a port or on the ocean, and actually handling a boat. Neither of us has much experience in sail boats but we know we want to try it... some day.
Early this year Kevin pitched the idea of living on the road for a while and work toward a boat. That was day, or rather late night #1. We got to researching vehicles that could practically support two adults and a dog on a long haul trip. We planned to travel in a manner to where the destination was a secondary goal to the journey. By the end of the week we were sure we had settled on a bus.. or was it an RV, or maybe a box truck...
We spent the next two months exploring websites and Youtube channels of those who have gone before us.
Comparing one model/make and narrowing our sights on a small to mid size vehicle in the 2005-2010 range with the engine/transmission of our dreams, and of coarse within a budget. After several failed attempts at snagging a sweet deal at an online auction. This beautiful bus appeared to us.
