The Mountains of North Carolina

After leaving Virginia, the plan was to make a few stops in Eastern and Central North Carolina before heading to the mountain town of Bakersville.

As we drove we decided to head directly there, arriving in the evening hours at our friend's hunting cabin. The drive through the Appalachian mountains is beautiful and the road snake there way up and down, but a word of advise, make sure your vehicle is strong and you have good brakes. With little light to work with we parked the bus on the flattest part of the gravel driveway and settled in for the night.

We awoke the next day to the sun and the sound of a natural spring which ran along the property line. In the distance chickens could be heard clucking and cackling as they made there way up to see the new arrivals. Our neighbor allowed them to roam his and the adjoining property in search of ticks and other pesky bugs. Havining a look around, we found the site was idyllic, and devoid of the sounds you'd find in a city. Over the next few weeks we explored just about everything in a five mile radius of the house and we had the bus serviced at a local shop. We ventured out in the bus a few times for laundry and supplies but mainly stuck close to the quiet house. I would like to thank Andrew and Danielle for hosting us remotely, I cannot wait to see yall again. I'd also like to thank Christy and Scott Thrift, our neighbors while we were there and their dog Oliver, our welcome wagon and tour guide.

Sunset up here was wild, so much color and a depth to everything.
